Animal Licenses

As per Bylaw 1181/14 (which can be found on the Bylaws & Policies page), all residents owning a cat or dog that is 3 months of age or older are required to license their pet on an annual basis.

Animal licenses can be purchased in person at the Town Office and you will be provided with an annual metal license tag at the time of purchase.

Fees

EARLY BIRDS SAVE ON LICENSES

Those who renew their licenses between January 1 – January 31 will receive $30 off!

$30 for an unaltered male or female
$15 for a spayed or neutered animal

Between February 1 and December 31 the fees are:

$60 for an unaltered male or female
$45 for a spayed or neutered animal

Lost or stolen tag?

If an animal license tag is lost and a replacement tag is required, there is a $6 replacement fee.

Kennel License

The Town of Blackfalds establishes a maximum of 3 dogs or 3 cats for a total of 5 animals per household. Anything over 5 pets requires a Kennel License under the Land Use Bylaw 1268/22 (which can be found on the Bylaws & Policies page). The $85 annual fee for a Kennel License is in addition to the fees for individual pet licenses.

Klassic Kennels provides animal control services for the Town of Blackfalds.

Contact the Klassic Kennels animal control officer if you have an animal related issue at 403.506.9380 between 9 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
