10th Annual Winter Warmth Fundraiser Tickets on Sale!

Blackfalds, Alberta (August 28, 2026) – Blackfalds Family & Community Support Services (FCSS) is hosting the 10th annual Winter Warmth Fundraiser on September 24, 2026, bringing together local businesses, artists, bakers, and vendors to raise funds in support of the Winter Wear Program.

The Winter Warmth Fundraiser is unique and curated night out in Blackfalds! Blackfalds FCSS staff work with businesses, artists, and community partners in Blackfalds and neighbouring communities to secure unique donations, ranging from handmade quilts and artisan creations to desserts from local bakeries and restaurants.

In 2025, the Winter Warmth Fundraiser supported 135 youth in the Blackfalds community with a warm winter coat, boots, or snow pants as part of the Winter Wear Program. Due to ongoing economic pressures, demand for the Winter Wear Program is expected to increase this year.

“As we all know, prices are only going up for essential clothing, and families, especially children, in our community are feeling the effects,” explained FCSS Manager Wendy Griffin. “We want those children to be able to play in the snow with their friends and family, have snowball fights, go sledding, or simply be a kid with a new winter jacket.”

Mayor Laura Svab reiterated the importance of this event, and the program itself.

“The Winter Warmth Fundraiser is a great example of what makes Blackfalds such a caring community. It is always a fun evening where people can come together, enjoy a meal, and take part in the excitement of the dessert auction and other fundraising activities,” Svab shared. “What makes it even more meaningful is knowing that the money raised helps provide local children with warm clothing and other essentials for the winter months.”

Ticket sales for the evening are on sale for $30 until September 17 and can be purchased at Blackfalds FCSS (5018 Waghorn Street).
The event starts on September 24 at 6:00pm at the Blackfalds Community Centre.

“By purchasing a ticket, you will provide an essential winter clothing item for a child in the Blackfalds community,” added Griffin. “Even if you are unable to participate in the live auction, your ticket includes a beautiful catered meal, cash bar, and live entertainment for the evening – perfect for a date night, family night out, corporate team building, or art and dessert lovers. Together, we can keep our community warm this winter!”
